There is a moment in recovery when the wound has closed and the real healing begins.

This cream was made for that moment.

Scar Cream brings together two great traditions of plant medicine around the single purpose of supporting the skin as it repairs, remodels and recovers.

At its heart is Zi Cao (Lithospermum erythrorhizon), a herb used in Chinese medicine for centuries to cool heat in the blood and promote the regeneration of damaged tissue. It is combined here with rosehip oil (Rosa canina)  which is long celebrated in western herbalism and cosmetic science for its remarkable ability to support scar remodelling.  I have also used  tamanu oil (Calophyllum inophyllum), one of the most respected wound-healing oils in natural medicine. Together, these three form the therapeutic core of this formula - East and West, ancient and modern, all working towards the same goal.

The base they sit in is equally considered; Aloe vera, chamomile hydrosol (Anthemis nobilis) and rose hydrosol (Rosa damascena) create a cooling, calming, deeply hydrating foundation. The chamomile to reduce inflammation and soothe reactive tissue, rose to calm without overpowering, and aloe to flood the skin with moisture at exactly the point it needs it most. Panthenol and hyaluronic acid draw further hydration into the deeper layers, while oat seed oil, cupuacu butter and squalene form a gentle protective film over the surface, keeping the healing environment stable.

The formula is lightly scented by the rose and chamomile hydrosols alone.  There are no essential oils added, making it suitable for even the most sensitive post-surgical skin.

Safe to use as soon as bleeding has stopped and the wound has fully closed. Apply gently at first, then with increasing firmness as the tissue strengthens, massaging in all directions which encourages healthy remodelling through all layers of the skin.

Suitable for surgical scars, injury scars, burns and old scars that have never quite resolved.

Formulated with clinical intention. Made by hand in small batches in mid-Devon.

  • Can be applied as soon as bleeding has stopped and the wound has fully closed. Begin gently, using a small amount massaged softly over the scar. As the tissue strengthens and sensitivity reduces, increase the pressure and massage firmly in all directions - across, along and in circles. This cross-fibre technique encourages the herbal actives to penetrate through all layers of the skin and supports healthy tissue remodelling from the deepest level upward. Apply two to three times daily for best results. Particularly effective used at night when the skin is in its natural repair cycle.

Do not apply to open or bleeding skin. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Suitable for all skin types including sensitive post-surgical skin. If redness or irritation develops, discontinue use.

Patch test recommended for those with known sensitivities.

Store away from direct heat and sunlight. Shelf life 12 months. Made in small batches.
