Jenny Swan RCHM registered Chinese medicine practitioner mid-Devon

My journey

My background is eclectic - law, personal training, Pilates, sports massage, osteopathy, but everything has led here.

I started with fitness, qualifying as a Personal Trainer and Pilates instructor and building a garden studio with my husband where I ran small group sessions. A Welsh physiotherapist introduced me to sports massage and I never looked back. I studied osteopathy alongside my practice, then discovered Tui Na through Maria Mercati in Cheltenham  who encouraged me to study acupuncture to protect my hands. That single step opened up an entire world.

The final piece was herbs. After years of searching I found the right teacher in Andrew Flower PhD, and everything fell into place.

I also hold a diploma in botanical formulating — bringing together my love of plants and my clinical practice into handcrafted products for my patients.

Devon changed me

I'd lived in cities my whole life. Moving here was a real adjustment  but learning about wildflowers, growing things and the rhythms of nature has quietly transformed the way I work.

My medicine feels more rooted now, more alive.

We're based at West Aish Farm — and for patients who want a deeper, more immersive experience, we also offer residential stays. It's something quite special.

My philosophy

I believe our bodies are remarkable.

Given the right circumstances and support, they will always seek their own path toward healing.  True health however is never just physical. Body, soul and spirit are inseparable, and I treat every person as exactly that — a whole being.

The patients I love working with most are those willing to take responsibility for their own health.  I see myself as coming alongside them as a guide, helping them find their way to greater vitality and wellbeing. It's a partnership and if I'm honest, it's the transformations that keep me going. There is something deeply joyful about meeting someone in real suffering, sometimes in tears on my couch at that first appointment and watching everything change over the months that follow.  It never gets old.
