Fitness Pilates is based on Pilates, a mind-body exercise system created by Joseph Pilates.
Pilates is a sequence of controlled stretching and strengthening exercises that are ideally performed daily to improve the balance, muscle-strength, flexibility and posture, without putting strain on the body. It is a low-impact form of exercise that works the whole body and is especially effective at conditioning the abs, back muscles and glutes to build core strength.
Fitness Pilates adds another dimension: It gets the heart pumping! Cardiovascular sequences raise the heart rate, which strengthens and conditions the heart and lungs. In addition to the considerable benefits of traditional Pilates, Fitness Pilates aids fat loss and improves endurance.
Fitness Pilates is a safe and effective exercise system for people of all ages and fitness levels. Every exercise can be adapted to the individual to make sure that it challenges them and gets results.
At Fitness in Horsham, Fitness in Pilates classes involve a mix of standing postures and mat work. We use our own bodies as equipment, supplemented by a simple kit including a mat, Pilates ball and resistance band (all provided at the class).
Whether you’re new to Fitness Pilates, or a regular, I will always keep a close eye on your technique and offer guidance to make sure you get the most from your workout. I’m a fully qualified Fitness Pilates instructor with 22 years’ teaching experience, so you will be in safe hands.
